Perspective

A different path to this table.

Long before she held a Human Resources title, Maranda studied biology. She learned to see living systems as relationships, not isolated parts, and to notice how cycles, load, and conditions affect the health of the whole.

That lens carried into restaurant operations. When COVID arrived, she led through one of the most disruptive periods the restaurant industry has ever experienced. While the world around her shifted by the hour, she stayed composed, optimistic, and present. She used her voice to encourage others, create hope, and help people navigate uncertainty.

She led from the front. At one point, she dressed in a pig suit and danced outside the restaurant to encourage customers to support the business and help protect jobs. It was not a stunt. It was the kind of leadership that shows up when the moment demands it.

Through it all, she stayed curious. Rather than pretending to have every answer, she reached out with candor, humility, and collaboration to explore the bigger questions about leadership, people, and the future of work. Those conversations revealed an unusual combination of emotional intelligence, systems thinking, practical wisdom, and frontline courage that did not fit neatly into any traditional job description.

A little over a year into her HR career, she found herself leading the function, reporting to the CEO, and coaching a battle-tested executive team for a national, multi-site, $200m+ brand.

She was tested in the moment. Decisions carried real weight. People were depending on her. And she showed up.

She did that for more than a year. Then she did it again for another brand before finding her way to the Hive.

"I needed her. I could not imagine anyone else being in this role or on this journey. She had seen me literally at my worst and stuck with me through it every time. That matters a great deal."

Today, Maranda serves as Chief People Officer of Hive Enterprises and Director of HiveSTRONG. She continues helping organizations and communities build resilient human systems grounded in trust, stewardship, and practical leadership.

Why their perspective matters

The lens they bring.

Maranda's perspective comes from repeatedly leading through complexity rather than avoiding it. Biology taught her to see systems as living relationships. The laboratory taught her precision. Restaurant operations taught her pressure. COVID tested her leadership in public, under uncertainty, with real jobs and real people on the line. Grief counseling taught her what repair requires. Beekeeping taught her what collective intelligence looks like. Together, these experiences reinforce one belief: healthy systems do not force growth. They create the conditions where growth becomes possible. That is the principle behind her people strategy, her survivor stabilization work at HiveSTRONG, and the living-systems models she builds for organizations that want resilient performance without sacrificing human dignity.
